MAIM AIM: 1.1 IMPROVING SELF CONFIDENCE is a LIFE SKILL every child needs to prepare them for adulthood. When students are having fun, they learn without even realizing it and often forget to be shy. 1.2 COOPERATION/SHARING/GOOD MANNERS are important LIFE SKILLS children should learn from an early age. Today students will have the opportunity to do an activity so they can practice improving their SOCIAL SKILLS. 2SUB AIM: 2.1 RECEPTIVE SKILLS: Reading: To help students become great readers, and to help them understand the story. Listening: Students must understand sounds, and use the correct intonation. They must be able to answer questions after listening to the story. 2.2 REPRODUCTIVE SKILLS: Speaking: Students must try to answer questions. Ss’s Prior Knowledge Baby, boy, brown, bubble, cap, cat, cow, dog, girl, house, ice cream, trees, and wind. Ss’ Learning Profile (for Differentiation Purposes) Adam (3) and Aaron (6) have difficulty cooperating with other students. *Beau (12) has major problems meeting social and academic expectations. Candy (24), Aurora (25), Lulu (27) and Ada (28) are shy and need to be praised and encouraged to participate. Gene (7), Albert (8), Woody (13), April (16), Joanne (19) and Olivia (29) are advanced learners. Brian (5), Ryan (14) are keen learn learners but need help to improve their English ability. Teaching Materials or Contents PPT, YouTube – Benny’s Big Bubble, Bubbles, CD – Bubble Song, Stickers, Worksheet, Picture Cards. Steps Activities Time 1 Speaking Activity & Integrative Activity Interaction – Greet Q & A (Weather, absent/present etc.) Warm-up - Exchange seats (Physical activity to teach students that sometimes you loose and sometimes you win. Let students guess what today’s topic is. 1 min. 3 Presentation PPT - Introduce new vocabulary – world, truck, boat, tire, lake, pool. “Play Magic Eyes” – Wonderful exercise to retain in their SHORT-TERM MEMORY. Children associate the visual representation of the image with the word. Use picture cards to play the above game. This will help to reinforce the meaning of these words. YouTube - BENNY’S BIG BUBBLE Teachers read the story once. Ask the students to stand – they read again. 3 min. 3 min. 3 min. 3 min. 4 A Social Skills Activity Homework ACTIVITY – Students will be taught HOW TO FOLLOW RULES, WAIT PATIENTLY FOR THEIR TURN, SHARE, and say PLEASE and THANK YOU. Students who are not blowing bubbles will start with “Mr. Bubble” – Worksheet. By keeping everyone busy there will be less noise. It is important that students learn how to manage their time well. *If they do not finish the worksheet, they will have to complete it at home. RULES - DEMONSTRATE 2 Teachers - 7 Groups - Pairs Tell students that they are going to take turns blowing bubbles. Everyone is going to have a turn to blow 3 times. Rule 1 – Wait your turn. (BE PATIENT) Take turns. (SHARING) Rule 2 – When it is your turn you are going to say: “PLEASE, may I have the bubbles.” (GOOD MANNERS) Rule 3 – When you get the bubbles you are going to say: “THANK YOU for giving me the bubbles.” (GOOD MANNERS) Rule 4 – We are not going to blow at any one’s face.
